Saja Awad

Islamic Relief USA

Wylie, TX 75098

Saja Awad, born and raised in New Jersey has completed a Bachelors in Nutrition and Food Science from Montclair State University. She has volunteered much of her life in the non-profit sector in various capacities such as a youth committee leader, president of the Muslim Students Association in college, and long-standing IRUSA volunteer through-out her childhood and young-adult life. In 2018, Saja had her professional start in the non-profit sector when she worked as a Program Development Officer for a national non-profit based in Ramallah, Palestine. During these two years, Saja completed various certifications regarding fundraising for small non-profits, emergency preparedness for victims of violence, and 110-hour telephone counseling training for victims of violence in Palestine. After completing the telephone counselling training, Saja co-led this training with the head facilitator, providing her with her first ever training experience. After moving back to the US in 2020, she continued volunteering for various non-profits based in Texas, ultimately helping her begin her full-time position as Regional Programs Coordinator with Islamic Relief USA. In this position, she hopes to not only implement the Standards of Excellence within her work, but to also ensure that her own department receives a sub-training on how to implement the Standards of Excellence in the work.
