The Standards for Excellence Institute® is a national initiative established to promote the highest standards of ethics, effectiveness, and accountability in the nonprofit sector.

Individuals interested in supporting nonprofit organizations, either financially or through volunteerism, are encouraged to ensure that the organizations they select operate ethically and with transparency. Therefore, we at the Standards for Excellence Institute are compiling valuable resources to help donors support their favorite nonprofits with confidence.

Our goal for the Standards for Excellence program is to strengthen nonprofits and improve the public’s trust of nonprofit organizations. We provide nonprofits with a common sense approach to achieve the highest standards in governance and management, while at the same time staying focused on the people and communities they serve.
