The Standards for Excellence Institute would like to congratulate The Coordinating Center for renewing their accreditation under the Standards for Excellence: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector.
Being accredited by the Standards for Excellence Institute demonstrates that the nonprofit has met the rigorous requirements that are included in the standards. Being an accredited nonprofit sets the organization apart as a top performer in the nonprofit field and lets all its partners (funders, community members, board, staff, volunteers) know that they can have confidence in the quality of its programs, its accountability and openness, and its commitment to proven practices.
The Coordinating Center’s mission is to partner with people of all ages and abilities and those who support them in the community to achieve their aspirations for independence, health, and a meaningful community life. They serve children and adults with disabilities and/or complex medical needs throughout the state of Maryland.
The Coordinating Center provides community-based case management, care coordination, service coordination, and life care planning for people living with disabilities and/or complex medical needs. Their programs center on highly skilled Coordinators who connect individuals to essential home, health, and community-based supports that promote better health, independence, and wellbeing. Through strong partnerships with local and state agencies, health systems, and community organizations, they deliver person-centered, data driven support that improve outcomes, reduce barriers to care, and strengthen communities across Maryland. By addressing social determinants of health and fostering collaboration, they help individuals thrive in their community of choice.
The Coordinating Center’s President and CEO, Teresa Titus-Howard, PhD, MHA, MSW, CCM, ACNP says, “The Standards for Excellence provides a clear framework that strengthens our governance, ethics, accountability, and operational effectiveness. By aligning our policies and practices with these standards, we enhance transparency, improve board engagement, streamline internal processes, and reinforce our commitment to high-quality, person-centered services. This has led to meaningful policy improvements, including a strengthened Internships Policy with clearer requirements and enhanced risk management, and the development of a Strategic Partnerships Policy to guide partnership governance and evaluation. Together, these changes reinforce our commitment to transparency, integrity, and continuous improvement.”

Congratulations again to The Coordinating Center for this noteworthy achievement. They have earned the right to proudly use the Seal of Excellence, the symbol for excellence and transparency in nonprofit management.
