Dr. Lynda J. Hyatt is a licensed clinical psychologist and the Chief Executive Officer of Gateway Homes, Inc., a community-based mental health and transitional housing provider for socioeconomically disadvantaged individuals throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Since obtaining her PhD from Georgia State University and she has dedicated 25-years of service to adults and adolescents suffering from serious mental illness, severe emotional challenges, and persistent behavioral difficulties.
Dr. Hyatt is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Division of Psychology and Law, and the Virginia Psychological Association. Currently Dr. Hyatt serves as the immediate past President for the American Residential Treatment Association and current President of the Board of Directors for Virginia’s National Alliance for Mental Illness. In addition, she is a trained and experienced forensic evaluator and has served as the community representative for the state Forensic Review Panel, currently serving as a member of the state Forensic Oversight Committee.
Her career has been driven by a passion for improving both accessibility and quality of care available to individuals dually facing the adversity of mental health challenges and extreme poverty. Furthering this commitment to accessibility, quality, and accountability of services available to populations in need, she recently became a Licensed Consultant for the Standards for Excellence Institute (sponsored through Maryland Nonprofits). As a Licensed Consultant, she will utilize her experience in the field to aid nonprofit organizations in maintaining Standards for Excellence; a certification afforded to nonprofit organizations exemplifying excellence in both their accountability and commitment to best practices.
