Janet Olajide’s professional work experience has centered on the nonprofit sector. As an accountant, she has spent the decades working in organizational settings that help children and families in need. Currently, she is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of one of the oldest and pioneer of foster-care organizations in Maryland. Prior to becoming the CFO in 2005, she was the organization’s Comptroller for nine years. She is an astute business woman and her skills and talents are in helping financially troubled organizations get back on track. She is a strategic thinker. She has a track record of creating policies that ensures organizational fiscal solvency, compliance with governing laws, sound adherence to Internal Controls policies and procedures.
Janet has also evolved into becoming a resource to small nonprofit organizations of various types. She has delivered several trainings to improve organizational efficiencies and effectiveness and has earned respect from her colleagues and many organizations. Based on her positive history and involvement in professional organizations particularly the American Society of Women Accountants, now AFWA, Janet was among 24 women professionals selected to represent and present papers on accounting issues in Russia in 2010. Janet had the opportunity to deliver a paper on the structure of the Nonprofit Sector in the U.S.A both in Moscow, Russia and at St. Petersburg, Russia. In 2010, Janet was invited by Nigel Jackson, the adjunct professor teaching Civic Engagement at Morgan State University in Baltimore, to present to a group of graduate students on the work on nonprofits and their impact on civic engagement.
Outside her job, Janet is widely known in the community; particularly in the Howard County Public School system. For several years, she served in various leadership positions in different schools in Howard County including being the PTA president of more than 600 families, SIT Rep for Clemens Crossing, and a selected person to represent schools and issues relating to children.
Additionally, Janet is the Internal Auditor for Christ Apostolic Church in Hyattsville, Maryland. She was a past Board Treasurer for the African Diaspora Medical Project. Janet currently serves as the Board Treasurer for the Children of Uganda, a non-profit international organization with a corporate office in West Virginia. She is also one of the Financial Advisory Committee Members to Christ Apostolic Church, North America. Within these organizations, Janet continues to deliver trainings to assist the organization show impact of their mission.
Janet holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, a Masters of Business Administration and currently a candidate of Doctoral Degree in Management (ABD) with a focus on Organizational Leadership at the University of Phoenix. Recently, she also received a Graduate Certificate in Forensic Accounting from the American University in Washington, DC. Janet is a Certified Nonprofit Accounting Professional.
Spiritually, Janet holds a degree in Practical Theology from the International Seminary in Florida. Janet is an ordained Lady Evangelist with Christ Apostolic Church Mission. She has ministered in many churches in the U.S. She is a writer and a blogger of inspirational messages and serves as editor to several books in publication. She founded mydailyblessing ministries. Janet is married with children.
