Ms. White is the Director of the Center for Nonprofit Management & Leadership at MSU Texas and has recently assisted with launching the new Nonprofit Minor in the Dillard College of Business Administration. Sonia has over 15 years of professional experience in the nonprofit sector and has worked for multiple large nonprofits in the DFW Metroplex, as well as operating her own consulting firm, Sonia White Consulting, LLC. Ms. White’s most recent nonprofit tenure was when she simultaneously served as the Director for the Area Agency on Aging for Dallas County and the Managing Director for Aging and Disability Services for the Community Council of Greater Dallas, overseeing an $8 million budget. Ms. White also has vast experience with children’s issues such as hunger, health and insurance coverage. She has overseen both the CHIP/Children’s Medicaid Program and the Affordable Care Act Marketplace Navigator Services for the Community Council as well as leading the Dallas Area Coalition to Prevent Childhood Obesity and Dallas CHIP Coalition. She was one of the founding members of the Dallas Coalition for Hunger Solutions in 2011 and continues to serve on its Leadership Team. Ms. White also worked with CitySquare in Dallas where she ran their food pantry and children’s hunger programs, providing meals to over 15,000 children annually. Since 2015, Ms. White has written many successful federal grants, resulting in over $10 million in federal funds awarded. She earned her Bachelor in Fine Arts from University of Texas at Austin, and her Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in Supervision and Administration in the Fine Arts from Bank Street College and Parsons School of Design in Manhattan, NY. She is currently working on her MBA.
