Joann Vaughan has a 35-year career in nonprofit development and leadership. As executive director of Maryland Federation of Art she grew MFA from a local arts group to a vibrant member of the national art scene highlighting current art creative by living artists. Prior to coming to MFA in June 2008, she created and ran the Annapolis Book Festival, building it from an idea to a multi-faceted, nationally televised event. Her prior experience includes serving as the Director of Education and Training for Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity and serving on the international board of the Association of Junior Leagues International. She holds a BA from the University of Virginia and a masters in management from the University of Maryland University College. More than 100 small to midsize nonprofits across the country have benefited from Joann’s extensive experience in board development and growth as well as in strategic leadership. She has led strategic planning sessions for groups as small as five or as large as 1000, helping an international organization set a visioning statement for the future.
