Heather Lamey joined the Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama as Director of Donor Grants and Standards for Excellence® in July 2016. She works with not-for-profit organizations to achieve the nationally recognized Standards for Excellence® accreditation.
In addition to her responsibility of managing the Standards for Excellence® program, she also manages grants from all institutional and designated funds, donor advised funds, and some field of interest funds.
Heather is a native of Calhoun County, Alabama. She received a Bachelor’s degree in social work from Jacksonville State University.
Prior to joining the Community Foundation, Heather most recently served as an appraiser for the Calhoun County Revenue Department. Prior to that her positions included, Executive Director of the Piedmont Benevolence Center, Case Manager for Mountain View Hospital, and Director of the Salvation Army Women’s Shelter. Heather has served on several boards and committees; Young Professionals of Rainbow Omegas, Venecia’s Foundation Board of Directors (Secretary), Human Services Council Secretary, and the Long Term Recovery Committee for Calhoun, Cherokee and Etowah Counties.
During her tenure at the Piedmont Benevolence Center, Heather participated in the very first Standards for Excellence® training hosted by the Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama. Thereafter she completed Piedmont Benevolence Center’s application for accreditation, and lead the organization as one of nine Calhoun County not-for-profits in our region to receive Standards for Excellence® accreditation.
Heather has been married to Harley Lamey for 18 years, and has a 14 year old son, Jack.
