Jackie Carrera is the Principal Consultant and Founder of Carrera Consulting, a consulting firm that is committed to helping organizations and businesses maximize social impact. As the firm’s principal consultant, Jackie assists clients throughout the United States in the areas of organizational capacity, accountability, transparency, effectiveness and sustainability. As a Licensed Consultant for the Standards for Excellence Institute®, she uses the Standards for Excellence®: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector to improve governance, management and operations. Jackie brings 27 years of senior level experience in nonprofit management, program development and administration, fundraising, partnership development and relationship management, community and strategic planning processes, grantmaking and capital projects. She served as the president and CEO of the Parks & People Foundation in Maryland for over two decades. During her tenure, the organization became a national leader in park and watershed restoration, urban ecosystem research and education, urban greening, and innovative programming for youth. Through this and previous positions as a program manager and community organizer, she and her teams have raised over $100 million for various causes.
Jackie serves or has served as a board member or appointee of local and statewide organizations, commissions and transition teams. She was voted one of the Maryland’s Top 100 Women and 100 Most Influential Marylanders by The Daily Record, and was named the 2008 University of Baltimore Distinguished Social Entrepreneur. Jackie is a graduate of the Greater Baltimore Committee Leadership Program and the Weinberg Fellows Program. She earned a BA, Business Administration degree in Finance from Loyola College in Maryland. She currently resides in Los Angeles, CA with her family.
