David J. Kubacki was appointed President of Nativity Preparatory School of Wilmington in January 2013 after briefly serving as Acting Principal. As President, he oversees the Senior Leadership Team and works with the Board of Trustees to inspire and lead Nativity’s community of faculty, staff, donors, supporters and volunteers.
David, a 1992 graduate of Archmere Academy in Claymont, DE, has a B.A. in Psychology and English from Case Western Reserve University, an M.A. in Scriptwriting from University of London - Goldsmiths College, an M.Ed. in School Counseling from Wilmington University, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from University of Delaware. Prior to joining the Nativity Prep team as President, David worked with the Nativity Miguel Network of Schools from July 2008 to June 2012, he served as the Associate Director of Mission and Programming for two years. During that time, he revised the Collegial Visit/Mission Assessment Process and coordinated the Graduate Support Conferences in addition to administering a Wal-Mart grant that focused on college access.
In 2010, David shifted his focus to Graduate Support and worked closely with Graduate Support staff at member schools to create regional and national programs and initiatives. Under David's leadership, NativityMiguel's Graduate Support Program collaborated with the National College Access Network (NCAN), the Cristo Rey Network (CRN), Boys Hope Girls Hope (BHGH), a Gates-funded Charter Management College Access/Success group, ConnectEDU, National Student Clearinghouse, and a handful of colleges and universities. Before working with the NativityMiguel Network, he was the founding Director of the Graduate Support Program at Nativity Preparatory School of Wilmington after having been involved as a volunteer since the school opened in 2003. Soon after learning of Nativity Prep, David transitioned out of an eight-year career in the corporate sector at Delaware Holding Services Inc. where he served in several roles culminating as the Vice President of Administration and Internal Operations.
David began consulting with schools while at the NativityMiguel Network. He has also provided organizational consulting services to several schools with a focus on working with boards and committees on strategic planning and program assessment and improvement. Currently, he provides consulting services in partnership with the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement (DANA). Mr. Kubacki currently serves as the Foundation Chair and President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Wilmington West, as well as the Interact Chair for Rotary District 7630. He has served on the Board of Trustees for Hope Partnership for Education (a NativityMiguel model school in Philadelphia) and serves on the Education Committee. He is a member of the Archmere Academy Alumni Council, the governing body of the Alumni Association, where he serves as the Secretary and co-chair of the Student-Alumni Relations Committee. David is also on the board of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra. David J. Kubacki is married to Grace Y. Kwon, MD. Grace and David enjoy traveling, cycling, cooking, symphonic music and opera. David is an avid road cyclist, LEGO enthusiast, passionate uncle, and brand new father to Olivia Grace (b. June 5, 2015).
