Debra Thompson is President of Strategy Solutions. In this position, she provides strategic planning facilitation, training and planning, and fund development planning services to organizations and communities.
Debra serves as an adjunct faculty in the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health where she teaches health policy to health administration and public health students. She also taught Organizational Development, Program Development/Evaluation, Leading Organizational Change and Community Leadership in the Master of Organizational Leadership program at Duquesne University for 10 years and served as an adjunct professor at Gannon University where she taught Strategic Planning, Research Methods and Program Development. She is a licensed trainer, consultant and peer reviewer for both the PA and National Standards for Excellence: ® An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector.
Deb served two terms on the National Standards Council were she helped to set policy for the National Standards and serves on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force of the National Standards. Prior to this position, she served as Director of Planning for Hamot Health Foundation and Corry Regional Health Systems where she was responsible for strategic planning, market research, marketing information systems, as well as affiliate and community planning support for Hamot’s 23 subsidiary corporations, 7 joint ventures and 7 affiliate hospitals. She has facilitated numerous local and regional economic and workforce development systems redesign projects, utilizing an ideal model/gap analysis approach. Her project work and clients have been recognized as best practice by the International Economic Development Council, the International Association of Facilitators, the PA and MD Workforce Development Associations, Council on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), US News and World Report, US Department of Health and Human Services, Ohio Department of Health and by the Pennsylvania Departments of Health, Welfare and Education.
Deb has an undergraduate degree in Marketing and an MBA. She has also completed advanced training in Strategic Planning, Quantitative and Qualitative Market Research, Total Quality Management, Leadership Development, Systems Thinking & Facilitation (through affiliates of MIT). She is a certified Immunity to Change® and Relationship Systems Coaching® facilitator. She was a member of the 2003 inaugural class of the Coro Center for Civic Leadership “Women in Leadership” program in Pittsburgh, and is also a Coro Certified Trainer.
