Dr. Jacquelyn Henry has worked for over 30 years as a senior executive within nonprofit organizations and as a consultant and trainer in the nonprofit sector. She has a passion for helping nonprofits strengthen their capacity to align leadership, programming and infrastructure with mission accomplishment. Dr. Henry has first- hand knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing Boards of Directors and executive directors as they journey toward fulfilling their visions. She has expertise in developing strategic collaborative community partnerships and implementing and analyzing policies and programs that improve service and outcomes. Dr. Henry has provided training, facilitation and consulting to numerous organizations across the nation. She is a national trainer on board development and human services programming.

 

Previously, she was executive director of the Healthy Families/Thriving Communities Collaborative Council (Council), a nonprofit social service organization located in the nations’ capitol. The Council functioned as an intermediary and provided training, technical assistance, data collection, advocacy, and policy development for seven nonprofit social service organizations and their boards of directors. Her work included developing programs and standards that resulted in systemic changes in the organizations served and the public child welfare system. She conducted research on the effect of family development training on the efficacy of workers and co-authored a report on youth violence, which included recommendations that became legislation in the District of Columbia. Dr. Henry also served as an Adjunct Professor for the Nonprofit Management and Leadership Certificate Program at the University of the District of Columbia.

 

Dr. Henry holds a doctorate in Organizational Leadership in Nonprofits from Nova Southeastern University, two masters’ degrees: one in social work from Howard University and the other in sociology from North Carolina State University. She is a Standard for Excellence Licensed Consultant ® through the National Standards for Excellence Institutes.
