Michael Feinstein is a consultant and coach to senior executives and boards of directors. He serves his clients in the areas of board governance, leadership succession, strategic planning, organizational assessment, and leadership coaching.
Michael Feinstein brings 40 years of experience leading and serving nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Michael is currently the Senior Executive Advisor for the JCC Association, advising association leaders as well as JCC CEOs/Executive Directors and their boards on a range of strategic issues. His work includes assisting JCCs with board governance, leadership succession, and organizational assessment. Michael also provides leadership coaching to nonprofit executives. In his previous roles at JCC Association, he served as Chief Financial and Administration Officer and Vice President for Strategic Initiatives. Before joining JCC Association, he served as Vice President of Capacity Partners, providing board development, strategic and business planning, and organizational assessment consulting services. He is a former Chief Executive Officer of the Bender JCC of Greater Washington, where for 12 years he worked with the board of directors to develop the JCC’s vision and strategic direction and led the organization’s professional staff. Before becoming CEO, he spent three years as the JCC’s Chief Operating Officer.
Prior to becoming a nonprofit executive, Michael owned and managed businesses in the manufacturing, service, and technology industries, and served in a variety of volunteer leadership roles in nonprofit organizations.
Michael is a Standards for Excellence Licensed Consultant and holds certificates in Nonprofit Board Consulting from BoardSource and Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University’s Center for Professional Development. He earned a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Duke University and an MBA with concentrations in finance and public /nonprofit management from Columbia University.
Michael and his wife, Suzanne, live in Rockville, Maryland, and have four children between them.
