Implementing Standards for Excellence in nonprofits and boards of directors, coaching nonprofits through accreditation, building stronger nonprofits through policies, procedures, and strong resource development programs. Raising over $30 Million in individual donors, major donors, legacy giving programs, events, and Federal, State, Local Grants and successful RFP responses resulting in contracts from all sources for direct service provision from Department of Justice, Housing and Urban Development, Delaware State Housing, Department of Education, Centers for Disease Control and prevention. As well as national and regional private foundations. Building all facets of Nonprofits’ Resources.

John provides organizational development services through his Social Enterprise Associates Delaware, LLC consultancy (Est. 2006) as well as his role as a Senior Associate with Horizon Philanthropic Services (serving the Delmarva Peninsula and Eastern PA. since 2001).

John holds his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance (Rider University), his Master of Public Policy and Administration (Magna Cum Laude Rutgers University), as well as maintaining his Certified Fundraising Executive credential since 2006, and his Grant Professional Certified – GPC.

During John’s twelve year career as commercial banking officer he volunteered on Boards and direct service with a number of nonprofits that sparked his next career in the nonprofit field.

Starting with AIDS Delaware, as Executive Director, expanding the organization statewide with the addition of three new offices, revenue grew dramatically through new contracts, major donors, and the sector-leading walk and United Way designations. Developed policies, procedures, successfully pursued certifications and accreditations. Developed Board of Directors, Implemented a comprehensive resource development program and raised of $17 Million for the nonprofit and cause. Following this, John spent a year with a major Manhattan New York City nonprofit executive development initiative as their Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations. Returning to his home in Delaware to lead the regeneration of the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement (DANA) as their Executive Director, transitioning into his role as EVP for Sector Advancement providing Government Relations Lobbying and Advocacy as well as Corporate, Foundation, and Individual Fundraising, while delivering organizational development as a Licensed Standard For Excellence Trainer and Consultant.

In 2017 John recognized that he was missing a key ingredient in his passion for the nonprofit sector, and found the right opportunity to return to direct human service provision as Associate Director with People’s Place, responsible for nine of their 10 programs that range from homeless/transitional shelter programming, to domestic violence shelters and services, to foster care, veterans services, and mediation programming.
