Kim Hildred currently serves as President of Hildred Consulting, LLC, which she founded after several decades of experience leading efforts that have improved government operations, strengthened Social Security programs and developed women leaders.

Kim has over 35 years of nonprofit experience. Since graduating from college, Kim has served as a leading volunteer for her sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma, including International President. Kim later moved to the sorority’s Foundation where as President she played a pivotal role establishing the Foundation’s independence. She currently serves as a Foundation Director.

After receiving her Bachelor’s degree from Waynesburg College and her Master’s degree from Duquesne University, Kim first used her education to enter the field of addiction counseling. She then moved on to use her knowledge to decide disability claims for State Disability Determination Services (DDS) in Kansas and Wisconsin. She quickly advanced to become a federal disability hearing officer for the Chicago Regional Office of the Social Security Administration (SSA) and there she was again promoted to serve as the federal liaison with state DDSs, overseeing their use of federal funding and their performance. Kim was often assigned to the poorest performing states due to her ability, demonstrated repeatedly, to gain the trust of the DDS administrator and create an environment open to change.

Kim was later selected by the SSA to apply for a fellowship with the American Political Science Association. Once she won the fellowship, Kim came to Washington and was chosen for placement at the Committee on Ways and Means, Subcommittee on Social Security in the U.S. House of Representatives. After two years Kim was asked to become the Subcommittee’s Staff Director, in which position she spent the last 17 years of her career leading efforts to assist Representatives in the development and passage of legislation to strengthen Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability programs as well as in the oversight of these programs.

Kim currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia. She can be contacted at
