In her twenty-year career, Tay Knight has been intrinsically involved in all aspects of foundations, health and welfare organizations, social service agencies and membership organizations as they strive to fulfill the mission and long-term vision of their organizations. Warren Averett provides a holistic approach to the not-for-profit sector by providing audit, accounting, consulting and tax services customized to each not-for-profit’s unique situation. As a member of Warren Averett, Tay serves as the co-leader of the firm’s assurance division and as the leader of the not-for-profit practice group. Tay also serves on the firm’s Accounting and Auditing Committee, the group charged with quality control assurance, and on the team that performs peer reviews of other CPA firms throughout the United States.
Tay has worked with not-for-profits with revenues that range in size from $40,000 to $50 million. She is also qualified to audit not-for-profits that receive federal funding. This experience provides a unique perspective of the challenges that not-for-profits and board leaders face in making strategic management decisions while remaining fiscally responsible.
Tay provides internal training at the firm in the areas of board leadership, leveraging community contacts, and fiduciary responsibility. She serves on the Montgomery Area Family Violence Program, Family Sunshine Center Foundation as well as the Auburn University Women’s Philanthropy Board. She also co-founded Warren Averett Connections, an initiative focused on the career development of women. The initiative encompasses education, recognition and business development for female professionals, while also promoting interaction through community service projects.
